I notice the spaces between things: where one interaction leaves off, another begins, and decisions made by different teams need to feel like one experience.
I like working through those questions with a team, exploring possibilities and finding a direction we can make real.
I keep the business purpose in view, too. What helps people find value, trust the experience, and want to return?
The whole experience matters…
I think about what happens between screens and features as much as within them. What does someone carry from one interaction into the next? Where should patterns stay consistent, and where should context change the rules?
For me, systems thinking means connecting those decisions so the product makes sense as a whole and teams have something solid to build on.
…so do the smallest details
I notice when an experience makes me hesitate, and when it feels effortless. I also notice whether it makes me feel anything.
Hierarchy, language, motion, and feedback don’t just help people understand what’s happening. They give an experience its character. I care about the details that make a product feel intentional, expressive, and worth using.
AI as a thinking partner
I use AI to untangle information, explore directions, and challenge my thinking. Its value comes from the exchange, not from accepting the first polished answer.
I check facts, add context, and push back when something feels too neat or misses the point.
New scenery, same sidekick.
After years in Philadelphia, I moved to the Kansas City area with Penny. A new pace, a little more open sky, and the same tiny copilot.
